What is Invisalign?

Invisalign® is the invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces. It uses a series of clear, removable aligners to straighten your teeth without metal wires or brackets. Invisalign® has been proven effective in clinical research and orthodontic practices nationwide.

Why Invisalign® Instead of Traditional Braces?

There are other options for straightening your teeth, but none has the same level of comfort and confidence as these virtually invisible braces. Unlike with traditional braces, Invisalign braces allow you to remove them whenever you want, eat whatever foods you enjoy, and floss and brush your teeth as you always have.

With Invisalign, you avoid the sharp metal of other types of braces that irritate your cheeks and gums and spend less time in dentist office since office visits are only every four to six weeks. And, if prescribed for a teenager, there is a replacement guaranty for up to six aligners, should they be lost or broken.

What Process is Involved with Invisalign?

Talk to Dr. Drummond – It is important to have a dentist like Dr. Drummond who has proper Invisalign training and can evaluate your needs to determine how Invisalign can help you.

Follow your Customized Treatment Plan – this custom treatment includes x-rays, impressions, and pictures that are sent to Invisalign to create a 3-D digital image of your teeth. With these images, you will be shown how your teeth will move throughout each stage of your treatment. For adults, this process takes about a year. Treatment length for teens is about the same as braces.

Receive Your Custom Aligners – a series of custom-made, clear aligners are created specifically for you. These are made of a comfortable, BPA-free plastic that will not irritate your gums and cheeks.

Use your Aligners – Aligners are worn throughout the day and are removed when you eat or brush your teeth. With each set of aligners, your teeth gradually begin to shift into place.

How Much do they Cost?

Invisalign treatment is typically comparable to the cost of metal braces.

What do I do once I have Invisalign?

  • You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
  • As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to their final position.
  • You’ll visit us about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.
  • Total treatment time averages 9 – 15 months and the average number of aligners during treatment is between 18 – 30, but both will vary from case to case.
